Chris Andrews

Sr. Software Development Manager

Chris Andrews joined the Critical Alert team in 2014 as a Senior Software Engineer and was quickly promoted to Software Development Manager where he directs all phases of software development, guides the R&D team in creating CommonPath Enterprise Nurse Call, and provides Level 3 technical support.

His 25+ years of software development and DevOps experience in the healthcare industry, coupled with his electrical engineering background, have enabled him to make significant contributions towards the development of Critical Alert’s Enterprise Nurse Call platform.

Chris began his career in the healthcare field in 1990 working part-time as the night manager at Digital Dictation, Inc., a small privately-owned medical transcription business.  He was subsequently hired as the Chief Engineer where he designed and built an enterprise transcription system enabling the company to grow from four million to 45 million in annual revenue within four years.  The company was acquired by MedQuist where he worked as Team Lead and contributed to the centralization of software and transcription services.

In 2006, Chris joined ProScript Documentation Services as Chief Engineer where he once again was tasked with building an enterprise-wide transcription platform and EMR solution.  He worked extensively with M*Modal engineers to integrate their speech recognition output into the transcription platform.  He also developed the company’s own proprietary speech recognition transcription platform.  Chris also designed and developed ProScript’s Dictation Capture Unit, a complete enterprise-wide dictation system.

Chris has a master’s degree in Computer Science from the Johns Hopkins University and a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, High Honors, with a minor in Computer Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Chris lives in Atlantic Beach with his beautiful wife, Betty, and their silky terrier Barcli. When not designing world-class software systems, he enjoys spending time at the beach riding bikes, hunting for shark’s teeth, jumping waves, and dancing the night away with Betty.
