Employee Spotlight

Tanner Cook

Patient Experience Analyst

Tanner Cook began his career in healthcare as the Critical Care Family Navigator at Research Medical Center in Kansas City.  He was responsible for being the voice of ICU patient’s family members and visitors.  Due to the nature of ICU patients transferring to different units, he quickly became connected with both nursing and ancillary leadership.

Tanner’s additional participation in the Employee Engagement Committee and event planning helped lead to the C-Suite’s endorsement of the HCA Executive Development Program.

Tanner’s interest in caregiving has been nurtured through his upbringing. His mother, Karen, is a published author of the HCAHPS Handbook and is the longest tenured Coach at Studer Group, one of the leading Healthcare Consulting companies.  His father, Randy, is a retired Internal Medicine Physician.  He feels extremely fortunate to have been referred by the Director of ICU at Research Medical Center to Sphere3, a Critical Alert Company, where he was able to put his background in business and interest in innovation to work with his professional experience in hospital process.

Tanner received his education from Kansas State University as a Bachelor of Science and Business Administration – emphasis in Marketing and Economics.

Tanner believes communication is not only a Value Based Purchasing composite, it is paramount to the overall perception of everything we do.

Tanner has been married to Holly, his high school crush, for six years.  They are proud parents to Violet (3yo) and Penelope (2mo). Together, they are working hard to build a real estate portfolio where they buy old houses in their neighborhood and renovate them. They hope to retire as DIY landlords with the flexibility to sell property when the girls are ready for college.

Tanner’s non-family and business fun time includes writing music and playing sports like Sunday baseball and disc golf.
